Barry Howard founded JB Management in November of 1986 after spending a number of years in management positions at Harris RF Communications in Rochester, New York. Having previously worked in the construction industry, friends that owned their own small businesses asked for advice and solutions to business management problems they were facing. Barry saw this as an opportunity to help those businesses become more productive and profitable, and help avoid pitfalls that might have serious financial or operational impact. He started JB Management consulting with businesses on operational issues, data gathering, automated accounting, government regulation and tax compliance as areas of concentration. Barry located the business in Webster where it has remained ever since.

Today, JB Management consults with businesses in a number of areas, but the goal is always the same: to help a business structure itself and operate in such a way that the business has the tools in place and the information at hand to make sound business decisions; to solve operational and procedural issues before a compliance or financial conflict arises; to insure tax and regulatory compliance while minimizing fees and taxes; to "coach" the business owner on a path of setting and achieving their goals and aspirations. Barry's often informal methods (and dress code) make the process more one of "working together" than "instructor and student", which he hopes makes the relationship beneficial, informed and productive, as well as fun!

JB Management works with a variety of business types: retail, food service, construction trades, professional services, and manufacturing. Some are smaller family owned businesses; some are multi-million dollar corporations. Barry has found over the years that despite their differences in size or type, they often are confronted with the same issues and problems.

Barry and his wife, Sue, moved to Webster 27 years ago, shortly after they were married. They have two children: Jason and Kate, who attended and graduated from Webster schools and both live in the area. Barry and Sue have always considered Webster their "hometown".

While Barry is a director on for-profit corporate boards, he has an interest in service to the Webster Community and to not-for-profit organizations as well. Barry is currently serving as a Director of the Webster Chamber of Commerce and as an officer on the Board of Directors of the Webster Village Business Improvement District; Barry sits on the boards of several other not-for-profit organizations including the Eastside Area Annex, Inc., which provides facilities and services to self-help groups, and the Nurturing Center of Upstate New York, Inc., which provides parenting instruction and child nurturing programs in the Greater Rochester area.

Barry believes that local businesses are an integral component to the quality of life within a community and that Webster's businesses can and do make a difference. He is grateful to be a part of the Webster business community.

Congratulations. Your success provides strength and growth to our community.
